Nissan Titan

Postby KPierson » Tue Aug 09, 2005 11:19 pm

I received this Email from a Titan Beta Tester (thanks again Vance):

2004 Nissan Titan

Remove the door panel by popping out the screw cover behind the door handle and remove the screw.

Remove the plate around the door handle and the screw behind the panel.

Remove the armrest by gently pulling it off and remove one screw under it. Remove the plastic cover on the armrest handle and remove the 2 screws under that

Gently pull the door panel away from the door.

There are 3 plugs that plug into the power window/lock and power mirror controls on the door.

Locate the plug with only 2 wires these are positive and negative, and the wires are white with a red stripe and black respectively.

In one of the other plugs you will find your 12vdc switched ignition and this wire is white with a blue stripe. Also in this plug there are 2 blue wires. The thicker of these wires is the door lock switch output.

Finally, there is a bundle of wires coming from the door handle and lock. the purple wire is the one that gives you th 12 volts for a brief period.

The wiring goes as follows:
red on box goes to white with red stripe
black on box goes to black wire. (both of these are found on one plug with only 2 wires in it)

yellow on box goes to white with blue stripe
green on box goes to larger of 2 blue wires found in power window plug
blue wire from box connects the purple wire in a group of 5 wires coming out of door handle/door lock.

thanks again,
Vance

To sum it up:

Nissan Titan = Function = KPtechnologies Module

White with Red trace = 12VDC = RED WIRE
Black = Ground = BLACK WIRE
White with Blue trace = Ignition = YELLOW WIRE
Door Lock Cylinder = Blue = GREEN WIRE
Door Lock Actuator = Purple = BLUE WIRE

Please keep in mind that it is very important to verify EACH wire before making any connections!

I read over this post and tried to follow the color code directions but when i got to the lasrt wire where it says purple. There is no purple wire that i can find. All the others I found are correct and hooked up but this does not work. There is a red wire that locks the doors and i think that one may be the one i needed to hook it up to so i tried it and still nothing. It will make a sound like its trying to fire the windows but nothing happens. Any suggestions. Thanks. Oh pics would be helpful if you got them!

I've never installed a module on a Titan, so I have no pictures. Typically, you have to remove the speaker to access the purple wire. The wire iteself runs directly from the BCM to the door lock actuator in the door. It does NOT go to the power window module.

Take the door panel off, pull the speaker out, and look for a bundle of wires behind the speaker. Inside the loom you should find your purple wire.

Yes.

This purple wire is the trigger of the system. Without it, the module will never be activated. The purple wire is the door lock actuator wire. When you remotely lock the doors this wire goes briefly to 12vdc. The module 'reads' these lock signals and triggers when to lock commands are issued.

Thanks so now i knwo that i need to find this purple wire and get it hooked. I looked behind the speaker with no luck. the only wires I found were two wires for the speaker. I will post on Clubtitan.org and get a wiring diagram from a member and go from there thanks for the help I WILL get this working man. Thanks again.

If you can reach in through the speaker try to find where the wires go through the door back in to the truck. Once you find the penetration point you can follow the harness to wherever it is accessable. You can also work backwards from the power window module harness, as it should feed back in the the harness that contains the purple wire. Also, if you can see the actual latching mechanism you may have a better time at finding the purple wire.

Does the purple wire have a white strip on it or is it solid and i will back trace from the locking mechanism to the actual harness and find it. Thanks

We found the purple wire today. I'll post pictures later today! Its accessible from the front of the door, around mid way up. I had to cut a bit of foam away to get to it, and it was around the wiring for memory seats.

These are the pictures I have for the Titan. When troubleshooting it may be beneficial to disconnect the yellow wire, as it will only stop the module from working if not hooked up properly.

Also, make sure you leave enough time between 'lock' commands, approximately 1 second or so. Do not hold the lock button down, press it and release it twice. If you still have problems let me know!
